How to convert units on a scientific calculator
Sumi has 40 unit conversions built in. Type a value, choose a conversion from the ••• menu, and tap =. Here’s 12 inches in centimetres.
Convert a value
- Type the value, such as 1 2.
- Tap •••, then Conversions.
- Type the conversion’s two-digit number, 0 1 for inches to centimetres, or tap it in the list.
- Tap =. The answer is 30.48.
More examples:
- 100 °F to °C (code 37): 37.77777778
- 20 °C to °F (code 38): 68
- 1 ft to m (code 03): 0.3048
To convert a result you’ve just calculated, tap ••• Conversions and the code straight after it, then =. Sumi carries on from Ans.
Every conversion
Each pair converts both ways. The first code goes left to right, and the next code goes back.

Why is my conversion slightly different from another calculator?
Most factors are exact by definition, such as 2.54 cm to the inch. Seven are rounded to seven significant figures: acre, US gallon, parsec, ounce, pound, mmHg and lbf/in². Two depend on a chosen value: Sumi uses 4.1858 J per calorie and 0.7457 kW per horsepower. Check which definition your textbook or specification uses.
